12th convention and AGM of the Retired Professors’ Society

In the first phase of the general assembly held in Kathmandu on Saturday, General Secretary Prof. Dr. Siddhi Koirala presented the society’s progress report, while Treasurer Pradeep Kumar Bhattarai presented the financial report. Both reports were approved by the assembly.

At the general assembly, Chairperson Dr. Bimal Kumar Sharma noted that it was the ideas of the senior veteran professors that brought the society to its present state. Dr. Sharma, while informing about the work the society has done for the rights and welfare of senior professors, said that it has collaborated with various health institutions for the medical treatment of professors.

Informing about the respect accorded to senior professors and the society’s expansion at the district level, Sharma expressed confidence that the new executive committee would do even better work, as they had moved forward with a belief in teamwork.

On the occasion, the society’s founding chairperson Basant Kumar Gautam, outgoing chairperson Basanta Lal Shrestha, Prof.Dr. Mohan Lohani, Jayashree Malla, Prof. Dr. Dilip Subba, Prof. Dr. Kul Prasad Koirala, and others extended New Year greetings and expressed hope that the society would work on a broader scale. In the second phase, the general assembly unanimously elected a new executive committee under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Siddhi Koirala. The assembly unanimously selected Prof. Dr. Ambar Prasad Pant as vice-chairperson, Prof. Dr. Indra Bahadur Karki as general secretary, Prof. Dr. Bishnu Shankar Paudel as secretary, and Prof. Dr. Pradeep Kumar Bhattarai as treasurer.

The newly elected members of the society include Surendra Keshar Amatya, Nirmala Sharma Dhungana, Nita Malla Khwajoo, Nagendra Raj Sitoula, Dr. Bimala Shakya, and Timila Yami Thapa.
